Daily Intinerary

This safari begins and ends in Arusha. 4×4 Land Cruiser and Land Rover are used for this safari.

Day 1: Arusha – Machame
Start the walk from Kyalia market and through the Sienna catchments forest. A historically sacred place of natural forests, bridges and caves where local people worshiped during traditional festivals; big caves were used to accommodate 200 Chagga with their animals. En route visit the natural bridge called “Daraja la Mungu” or God’s bridge crossing the Namwi and Maririre rivers – 5 hour hike. Picnic lunch with the dinner and overnight at the Aishi Hotel.

Day 2: Machame – Mkuru
After breakfast set off for Mkuru, first stop will be at the camel camp at Mkuru, where you can make camel safaris to the plains between Kilimajaro, Mount Meru and Lake Natron, and enjoy the friendly behaviour of the “Ship of the desert”. Mkuru is situated on the North side of Mount Meru, not far away from the irrigated fields of Engare-Nanyookye and the Momela gate of Arusha National Park. From a distance the area can be easily recognized through the remarkable shape of Ol Doinyo Ledaree, the little mountain that looks like a pyramid. Picnic lunch with dinner and overnight at Mount Momella Lodge.

Day 3: Mkuru – Mulala
After breakfast drive to Mulala just outside Arusha lies the picturesque village of Mulala on the slopes of Mount Meru. Tours begin at Mama Anna’s farm which is also home to the Usangi Women’s Group. Tours include a Tour of Mama Anna’s quaint cheese and butter making dairy – A guided tour crisiscrossing coffee and banana farms to the top of Lameka Hill. A glimpse of the daily life of Meru farmers, information on surrounding vegetation and crops – A walk to the Marisha River bands, home of colorful birds and playful monkeys – A school visit to a local primary school where children will greet visitors with songs and dance – Development fees from the tourism revenues in Mulala will go towards funding the Mulala Primary School. Your visit will help improve the quality of education in the area. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Novotel Mount Meru Hotel.

Day 4: Mulala – Ng’iresi 
Here the guide will take you to Mzee Loti’s farm and see the various styles of traditional Maasai and Wa- arusha houses. From here you will climb Lekimana hill, for a beautiful view of Arusha town and the Maasai plain. On a clear day Kilimanjaro is visible – a 4 hour hike. Enjoy picnic lunch, dinner and overnight at Mount Meru Hotel.

Day 5: Lake Manyara
Depart Arusha at 09h00 drive to Lake Manyara Hotel. Enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Hotel.

Day 6: Engaruka
Here climb the green mountain of Kerimasi. The mountain is of volcanic origin. The climb takes three or four hours. From the top of this mountain take in the impresive view of Lake Natron and the Ngorongoro highlands. Picnic lunch with dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Hotel.

Day 7: Mto wa Mbu
Leave the Lake Manyara on top of the Great rift Valley and drive to Mto wa Mbu for a half-day hike. Starting from the market walk to the Papyrus lake and along the foot of the Great Rift Valley, passing the Njoro Springs and Balla Hill. After lunch at the Lake Manyara Hotel drive to Ngorongoro with game viewing en route overnight and dinner at Lake Manyara Hotel.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast descend into the crater for a full day game viewing with picnic lunch. Returning for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

Day 9: Ngorongoro – Serengeti
After breakfast drive to Serengeti in time for lunch at Seronera Wildlife Lodge. After lunch game viewing in the Seronera Valley. Dinner and overnight Seronera Wildlife Lodge.

Day 10: Arusha
After breakfast drive to Arusha with a stop over at Mto Wa Mbu village market
